Happy Friday-That-Feels-Like-A-Wednesday-Because-Tuesday-Was-New-Years-Day! I hope your week is going smoothly! Let me tell ya, if I didn’t know any better, I would think this whole week was a full moon because it has been WEIRD. We have a super low census at the hospital right now, but these people are keeping us on our toes. I’ll be happy for a weekend (even though it’s short as I work Sunday).
But for now, I’m anxious for that Friday 3:30 feeling when I walk out the doors and head into some hours of relaxation and down time after the holiday rush. It will be nice to keep up my feet and catch up on some books I’ve been excited about! But for now, let’s jump into the Five Friday Faves post, where I talk about 5 things I’ve been loving this week! As always, feel free to comment on what you’ve been loving, too!
Oh, this swacket. My love runs deep. This was a gift from Tanner’s mom (thanks, Pam!) and I LOVE IT. I’ve run in it a couple times and wear it around all the time because it’s perfect. It’s warm, but light, making it perfect for cooler temps. And I love that it has thumb holes AND a high collar AND a hood that doesn’t bounce around like crazy when I’m running. It’s a good one.
This is another amazing Christmas gift (thanks, mom!!!) that has saved me from looking like a zombie (most days) at work. While I’m a huge fan of getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, and generally treating your body well, this little guy comes in handy on the days I’m lacking. It’s a pen that brightens under your eyes just enough to cover the dark circles without looking like a raccoon. Yes!
Playtime with Bravo
Thursday was a pretty stressful work day for both Tanner and I, and when we got home we put everything on pause to take Bravo to our neighborhood park. And boy, were we glad we did! We let him off the leash to play fetch and it was just amazing to see him run. He was wild and energetic and smiling the whole time. He didn’t leave any energy left in the tank, and just looked like he had the best time ever. We couldn’t help but destress, too, and we spent the whole time laughing at his antics. Dogs are so good for the soul.
Natural Bliss Creamer
I can’t believe I haven’t made this a FFF yet. This is the creamer I have been using for years, and I love it. I started using it as a more natural alternative to the other flavors I was used to, and let me tell you, none of the flavor is sacrificed. It’s so good! But I also appreciate it every morning. Fixing up a cup of coffee is part of my morning ritual, and it truly is sacred to me. Just the right amount of water with the perfect scoop of coffee, topped with a small pour of this and my day is set on the right path. It’s really as simple as that. After taking my first few sips, I am calm, awake, and prepared to tackle the day. Yes, it’s my favorite creamer, but more importantly, it’s what gets me going.
Word of the Year 2019
Have you ever heard of people targeting a word or idea instead of (or in addition to) New Years resolutions? Like a motto for the year? Well I decided to keep up with resolutions, but also add in my word of the year. My focus this year is calm. 2018 was beautiful and crazy, but I noticed that many of the stressful times turned out to be fine, and I wouldn’t have been stressed if I stayed calm. This year, I plan to channel this with all I am. Whether it be in work, relationships, traffic, life puzzles, house projects, ANYTHING. I will repeat “calm” in my head with the goal of resetting, breathing, and focusing, to realize it’s all okay. Because it is. So what’s the point in stressing? (Remind me of this when I’m about a week away from my wedding, please! Ha!)
I hope you all have a great weekend!
